Dhruva
Mistry CBE
RA (b.1957)
Dhruva was born in 1957 in Kanjari,
Gujarat. After receiving an MA from the Faculty of Fine Arts
M SU, Baroda, he was awarded a British Council Scholarship
at the Royal College of Art in London for the years 1981 to
1983. Dhruva was artist in residence at the Kettle's Yard
Gallery together with a Fellowship at Churchill College in
Cambridge for the year 1984-1985. He was elected a member
of the Royal Academy of Arts in 1991 and Fellow of the Royal
Society of British Sculptors in 1993. His work is included
in solo and group shows in national and international exhibitions
and is held in major public collections in the UK, Japan and
India. He was appointed Professor, Head of Sculpture and Dean,
Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S.Uni. from May 1998 to December 2002.
He was awarded a Hon. CBE in 2001. He lives and works in Baroda.
